A Bitty Break

So I've decided that my favorite thing about owning a sweet shop is being able to sneak in the back door on Saturday morning, cut yourself a chunk of Peanut Butter Pie, and flip through a magazine with the place to yourself. Heaven.

I'm still lousy about reading my emails. I've hardly opened my Freeman House email account in two weeks. I do know, however, that I'm still getting notes from people strongly urging me not to quit blogging on April 7th. And I hear you. I really do. It's just that I'm doing everything at henrybella's right now - all the shopping, all the baking, and all the shop keeping/selling/cleaning, etc. It's too much for one person, really, but I can't afford to hire help. Today, my day "off", I'm doing 5 loads of laundry, mowing the yard, cleaning my house, seeing after Millie, and shopping for ingredients. Then there's a party tonight. Tomorrow it's teaching Sunday School and then baking to fill a big order first thing Monday morning. Sadly, there's not much time here anymore for blogging....

Hope y'all understand.

Wow, I have been away from your blog a couple of weeks so I was surprised when a friend said to me last night "did you see that Brin opened her coffee shop" (yes, we refer to you on a first name basis :). WHAT?!!? I was so excited to come to your blog tonight and read all about it.

Congrats on a dream come true!!!

Also, I am one of the many that will be very sad come April 7th. What if you just do weekly posts? Or every couple of weeks? I love reading what you have to say.

I understand - I would love for you to leave your blog up though even if you never post on here again. It would be encouraging to come back to. Congrats again on everything going well with the bakery - I know you are busy and exhausted and exhilarated all at the same time!!

I think I understand, and in fact, I posted about you today and told people to come on over and copy down some recipes before you go. If I lived closer, I would be your employee and let you pay me in pie.

You'll establish a routine before you know it. I'll miss your blog, but it's so great knowing your dream has come true. Blessings to you (and I wish I could have a piece of that pie).

Happy Sunday, Brin. I'm so delighted to see that your dreams are coming together and that you are able to do what makes your heart happy. Three cheers for you.

About the blogging- we out here in blogging world will miss you and the warmth and inspiration you bring to our lives. However, you must do what is right for you and what makes you happy. You have made many smart decisions thus far, and I'm sure you will continue to do so.

I hope this day of rest finds you some peace, quiet, and time for you (and, Millie!) :)

hear ya ! however ...

Always the ongoing voice of the broken record. Do not negate the power of your blog (regardless of how sporadic the posts may be) to help build the Freeman House - Henrybella Empire. (Think Posy, Dooce, Orangette, Yarn Harlot, Angry Chicken, Delicious Days ... and on and on. ;-) It's fantastic, totally FREE advertising and marketing plus you already have a well established readership. You may be making a huge marketing mistake by stopping.

I so look forward to your blog. I also would encourage you to do what is best but just think about leaving it open and post when you can. I am inspired by this blog and if you do decide to close it down, I will wish you all the best in the world and God bless.

Your blog has brought me a tremendous sense of peace all year long. Thank you for your optimism, girl. I am continually amazed at your internal drive and ambition to accomplish your dreams. You do amazing things. It's an inspiration.
I can't wait to visit HenryBella's bakery! I'll be coming all the way from NYC! I'm going to have to because I'm going to miss your updates so much!
I hope that when things settle down, you'll come back and continue to share your amazing, thrilling life with us!
Much love to you, Brin! Good luck!

Aw you should twitter then, but you can still continue you a blog maybe just not update it on a regular basis. Once you get into a routine it might be a little easier. But only you know what's best, hopefully you'll eventually be able to hire some help and have a relaxing day to recover.

Yep, I'm one of those with some unanswered emails sitting in your inbox ; )

I know that opening your own bakery has been a long time dream of yours. I only wish I lived closer..I would love to be a part of the magic.

Still sad though that you're closing your blog.

Even if you can't blog on a regular basis, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE keep your blog up and running and update occasionally. I have started at the beginning and have been reading and rereading posts, and I DON'T WANT IT TO END!!!! Please think about it.....
Congrats on the bakery...it's GORGEOUS wish I lived closer to come try it out!

I think some of these ladies have had a wonderful idea. How about keeping your blog up and not deleting it? You don't have to post at all if you can't... but at least all of us who so enjoy your writing and photography would still have a refreshing, Christian site on the web to visit when we sit down to the computer with a nice cup of coffee or tea. You could even shut down comments so you wouldn't have to deal with them.

How about it, Brin? If you and your blog would just up and disappear... the internet and all of your faithful readers would lose a magnificent treasure.

I agree with Lindy. Leave the blog even if you can't post to it right now. You just never know. And, yes, you are a treasure to us that we don't want to lose. Good luck and much success with the shop. Sounds like you're having loads of fun. xxoo

Once again, I'm with Susan on the power of leaving your blog up. It's not a requirement to write on it. You can simply stop in when you can every few months or so. Having started up a few restaurants myself, I understand the time commitments you are under right now. But as another poster said, it will become routine quickly enough, and you will develop systems that help things run smoothly. You will need balance in your life, and that might mean reaching out into the blogosphere for that love and support that doesn't always come with people we see day to day. A restaurateur's life is never easy, and support in any form is foolish to disregard.

Would you at least be so kind as to leave us access to your archives, even if you no longer update? I just found your blog last month. I would love to have time to read all the way through.

Ms. Snark the literary agent hung up her hat but her archives are still available for perusal and it's a really great resource.

Just hoping.

Blessings for so many more successes!
