Spook House

Ah, Freeman House. The local spook place... the neighborhood haunt. Kids for miles around are scared of her. Adults for miles around are wary of her. So much history... so much mystery... tied up in this old place. What is it with this house? people ask. It really leaves an impression, doesn't it?

It does. The impressions are different, but it certainly does.

This week has been insanely busy. (Think I slept two hours last night.) And kids from miles around will be coming to Freeman House this weekend for a good old-fashioned scare and a simultaneous lesson in Romans 6:23. Should be fun. I've worried for weeks... worried that it won't be scary enough... worried that it will be too scary. Worried that people won't come and worried that crowds will come. Today I finally decided to relax and enjoy it. Not everyone, after all, has such a fun opportunity to welcome so many kids into a cool, safe environment. Not to mention the 23 folks that are scheduled to help....

So I'm covered up in black lights and glow-in-the-dark paint and gray wigs and robed costumes and praying that I make it through the weekend. Surely we'll make it through the weekend.

If not, you know where to find me. I'm in the spooky house on Jefferson Street. Just follow the signs. Or better yet, ask someone. They all know. -Brin

That is so nice of you to offer up Freeman House for Halloween fun! It sounds great!! I can't help but wonder a bit a the soundness of the home's exterior, though. I can see why you need escape breaks even with the love you have for the house. Your party sounds like such a blast. Wish I could go :D. Have a great time this weekend with all the fun and games!

What a fun and neat event, it will be a blast, so relax and enjoy it! Freeman House has really come alive since you took it over, it may need repairs, paint and a new roof but the love within is priceless!

Hi Bren,
I wish I could be there to help, but I'll be in sunny southern Cal.
Oops! You probably don't want to hear this, but I couldn't find Romans 6:28 anywhere in my Bible. I read from the NKJ and just happened to have it sitting here next to me.
Please feel free to delete this after you read it...no one likes being corrected :0! I just thought it would be fun to see what you're teaching on.
Have a fruitful week and I hope everything goes well.

I love reading your blog. You really inspire me with all you do and the heart for the Lord with which you do it all.
I'll bet you just hit the wrong key---did you mean Romans 8:28? It's my favorite verse. The Freeman House Halloween sounds like great fun! Enjoy!

Decorating for Halloween sounds so much fun - wish I could come and help too!

My decorating efforts are usually quite limited. I have finally put some pics up! at vegetable-kitchen-diaries.blogspot.com. I realised that I didn't take many pics of the actual kitchen, so that's the next on my list. :-)

That'll be fun! Not sure how Romans pertains, but I'm sure you'll work it in there nicely. :D

I just wanted to let you know that I posted yesterday about canning your magical pie filling with my mom. We tried it out as well and it was delicious!
Thanks for the recipe. :)
Enjoy your weekend.
I was wondering. . .
If you have 24 people helping you, just how many kids are you expecting!

The verse cited in this post read Romans 6:23 on my computer. It reads, "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." (from the New International Version)

What a great verse to use!

Have fun! Blessings!

I hope that you will enjoy the weekend as I'm sure your community will.

And, yes, Freeman House does look a bit intimidating from those angles.

I must say you know how to throw a party! And what a great combination...Romans 6:23 and scary as can be. You have the perfect house...and may all go well.

Well, I'm making my comment long after Halloween... I grabbed my Bible--Romans 6:23 'For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life.' Amen, Brin! Thanks for loving and sharing the Lord with your readers. God bless!
