Hands

So I've jumped on board with the wristwarmer craze. How could I not? Over the weekend I began working up a knitted prototype using stash yarn. I still need to finish out the thumb hole... and work out the pattern... but I think I'll be very happy with these. (Click your colors and your row preferences in Biscuit and Jam's Random Stripe Generator and get stiching. Easy!)

Hands. While using mine to make something to keep them warm this winter, I began studying my ole mitts. I've always loved hands. Grandma's hands. My piano teacher's hands. That guy I (stupidly) married's hands. Some soft, some skilled, some capable. I have a thing for hands.

Have you heard this song? Your Hands? It's a big favorite on the iPod right now. I listened to it all morning on repeat.

As I go about my day, using my hands, it's good to know I never leave His....

I love these wrist warmers. Have you seen them made from old felted wool sweaters? I need to make me some. I just wrote a post about making rings using old buttons. And, I noticed just how aged my hands look.

I will check out that song. There's another great song about hands - it's by Jewel.

I, too, have always had a thing for hands. In fact, when I was dating, they were one of the first things I ever noticed about a man. Hands tell stories - some are rough, worn: the hands of workers. Some are torn, cracked, bleeding in places: the hands of survivors, of fighters. Some are smooth and manicured: the hands of knowledge, that always do things the "right" way first. Each set is different, each its own book of secrets. All that to say: I believe your hands are beautiful and capable and full of love, handed down.

cute idea, I luved leg warmers back in the day. I thought about you when i recently read a book by Jane Brockett, The Gentle Art of Domesticity. She is a knitter too and I think you'd love her. Sounds like your feeling a bit better.

Thank you Brin....what a beautifully timely song. I too love hands. and the hands I miss the most are my parents'. But beyound that, how wonderful to be in the Father's hand.

Today a friend delivered a stillborn daughter at 30 weeks, her first child.

Today a friend had to put down two beloved pets that had been his companions for 15 years.

Today it is good to hear so sweet a song of never leaving the Father's hands.

May your heart be blessed today with the measure of blessing you have extended to us.

thank you :)

Love the wristwarmers. I am currently working on a pair of fingerless mittens (from Martha Stewart) and am having a terrible time getting the thumb hole right....grrr...frustrating! I love the colors you chose for yours!
