Gardening Day

Pulling: baby onions. After about 100, I quit for the time being.

Planting: squash, more potatoes, and Moon and Stars watermelon.

Watering: green peas, Zipper Cream peas, tomatoes, potatoes, pinto beans, green beans, Strawberry popcorn, Green Dent corn, and Smoke Signals corn.

Watching: herbs, the new lime basil and strawberries.

Wanting: an artichoke bed so I can make this, and rain barrels like this placed throughout the garden.

Wishing: I'd planted more flowers. Can a girl ever have enough flowers?

Sounds like a perfect day! What will you do with all those baby onions? And no, a girl never can have enough flowers!

I'm a gardener who knows, you plant veggies for the tummy and flowers for the soul! :)

Wow! I would love to see a photo of your garden. It must be huge---and beautiful!wn10adi

I found your blog just before you stopped. I can't remember how, but I went back and read all your entries and the comments.

I wish I could romanticize life the way you do! I thoroughly enjoyed reading about Freeman House, as I have an old house as well, and blog about it, my life, and gardening (hilltopgothic.blogspot.com)

Anyway, I would check occasionally to see if you'd given in to your fans, imploring you to return. I'm glad you're back.

To answer your question...no, a girl can never have too many flowers.

Our local Italian market has their olives imported in large plastic barrels that they then sell. We've bought three and turned them into rain barrels.

I've been talking about a picket fence garden for years. Well, I'm happy to say that the fence is up. We need to build the raised beds and turn the dream into a reality.
