Monday Moment: Sweet Goodness

We don't deserve it. Not any of it. God's goodness, I mean. Even at our best, we're the worst. We betray Him, blame Him, butcher His Word, blow His commandments. We are a sorry lot of debts and regrets and failures and needs. But still He came. And still He loves. Our mistakes and problems won't change that.

God is so good. He didn't have to supply all the things we take for granted, you know. He could have put us on Mars. He could have postponed making strawberries. He could have changed His mind about creating cats and dogs. He could have forgotten the flowers. He could have stuck us in bodies that forgot to breathe... in skin that permanently stained. Or worse, He could have simply made us and then forgot about us altogether. Think how that would be.

Strawberry shortcake. Made it this weekend and looked at the little dishes and my heart felt so full. I thought, how good is my God! How generous and patient and sweet...

How blessed are we that even when we deserved it the least, He gave us the most.

For the LORD is good; His steadfast love endures forever.... -Psalm 100:5

Monday Moment is a little devotional to kick start your week. See you again next time.

You just never know who God will use to talk to you. Gorege Micheal for example, during the American Idol finale. He came our and I said, "What...you have got to be kidding...Gorge Micheal!!!" And then he sang. My husband and I just sat in silence after the song was over. I looked at my husband and he had a tear in his eye. Thank you God, for strawberried, Brin and yes, George Micheal. If you have not heard the song he sang, you must. It's a song about if we have time to change the world before God comes back. Maybe there isn't any one to come back for. That's it...I'm going back to church pronto. You have to search it and listen to that song. It's a wake up call for us all. Good day my friend!

Brin you reminded me of something I read some time ago, but pray never to forget. How thou canst think so well of me and be the God thou art, Is darkness to my intellect, but sunshine to my heart.
William Cowper 18th century poet.

hugs, pk

Beautiful. I'm a simple life lover. You really should write a book about your life...it's so intrigueing just reading about it here on your blog. Thank you for sharing it all with us. You are a light in this world.

I so much enjoy following you and watching Miss Millie grow. Also, thank you for the book suggestions, present and past. I recently finished The Sacred Ordinary (which I absolutely loved!!) and I'm now reading The Beautiful Ache which I also love.
Take care.
