Thoughts On a Cold and Disagreeable Morning

The morning was cold and disagreeable...
- Meriwether Lewis

I've always wanted to keep a journal that featured sentences like that: "the morning was cold and disagreeable". It just sounds so raw and romantic - like something from Wuthering Heights or a Jane Austen film.

Anyway, still here, counting the days until I go home (8), and the days until Christmas (13). Can't wait. The mornings here, although beautiful in their own, frozen way, are cold and disagreeable. I miss Freeman House, and I miss that I'm missing Christmas. Everything is always a bit surreal when you're on the road.

But enough about me. How in the world are you? Really, we should all find a central meeting place and bring our recipes and our projects and our pets and sit and chat for a day. Or a weekend. Wouldn't that be lovely? Nothing cold or disagreeable about that at all....

I am glad you will be home in eight days though. Hang in there Brin.

Just wanted to say...

I love your blog. I love the way you write... I love your photos... I love your recipes... I love everything. lol You remind me of a modern day Anne Shirley. :)

I hope you share the love letters with us. I've always dreamed of moving into an old home and finding hidden treasures within its walls. How romantic!

Sure would be fun to get together and share recipes and such..
I can imagine a flurry of activity once you're home, Brin. Up with the tree and decorations and baking up a storm, right?

I'm having such fun this December preparing for Christmas and journaling about it on my blog. There are still so many things left to do, but each is a delight. And, really Brin, Christmas isn't passing you by. Before you know it you'll be home, swept up in a flurry of ribbon and lights and all things delicious. Making memories at Freeman House.

The house looks like my Grandmother's old home place. I love old stuff and recently my Mother game me post card written by my Uncle in 1942 when he went into Basic Training for the Army. She found these in one of Mama Thomas old bibles. Gave me 2 quilts Mama T and my great grndmother had made......so cool

I took the Post card and framed them in frames so you could see the front and the back....put them in my spare room with the old Wrought Iron bed...

A gathering like that would be awesome! I bet you've already wrote many great entries in journals, esp. if your journals are anything like your blog! Freeman House will be happy to have you home too! Stay warm!

Brin,
Thanks for the link to the embroidery; I just now found where you had posted it. Sorry my link didn't work, don't know exactly what happened. Anyway it was precisely what I was looking for. Thank You!

I think that would be delightful, especially on a cold and disagreeable morning.

Yes, indeedy, that's a wonderful, warming thought. It's plenty cold and disagreeable in my corner, too.

It was good to hear from you, Brin! I've wondered this week how you have weathered the chill that went through your area. I wish we could get together! I'll lift my tea mug to you later this afternoon after I get some wrapping done.
