Debbie Sue's Christmas Crockpot Candy

For Christmas this year, I've bought myself the Pilates Powerhouse Collection. This is entirely due to my new friend Debbie Sue. Debbie Sue and her Christmas Crockpot Candy. After getting her permission, I'm printing her sweets-to-break-a-trucker's-heart, peanut butter candy recipe here. But I'm warning you: make this ONLY if you want to be the most popular person at work or home. Then, and only then, should you make:


Debbie Sue's Crockpot Candy

1 (16 oz.) jar unsalted peanuts
1 (16 oz.) jar salted peanuts
1 (12 oz.) bag semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 (12 oz.) bag milk chocolate chips
2 (12 oz.) bags peanut butter chips
2 (1 lb.) packages White Almond Bark, broken in pieces
(You'll sometimes find this called Vanilla Candy Coating)

Layer ingredients, in order listed, into (4 quart or larger) crockpot. Turn the pot on low, cover it with a lid, and walk away for two hours. After two hours, remove lid and stir to combine. Replace lid and walk away for another 30 minutes. Check to see if almond bark is melted, and if so, stir and spoon mixture onto wax paper. (Decorate, if you wish, with holiday sprinkles or additional chopped peanuts.) Allow to harden - 1 hour or so - before enjoying. Then hide it until ready to serve and go order yourself the Pilates Powerhouse Collection. You'll need it, trust me.

Oooooo.........these look wonderful!! I'm trying to simplify here in Indiana and failing miserably. But with 8 kids, all wanting "their candy", I tend to go overboard. Jeanette, my family has made this exact recipe for years. The white chocolate melts right in with the rest and you can't taste it. I don't like white chocolate AT ALL, but I LOVE these candies!!!

Jeanette - April's right... you can't taste the white chocolate. Not at all. But by all means, I think it would be lovely to try the chocolate bark in place of white almond. Besides, can we ever have TOO MUCH chocolate? Let me know what you discover, and if we need to post a bigger (better?) version of this recipe! :D

It's been awhile since I've stopped by Freeman House. I'm glad I came for a visit, especially when I came upon this recipe. My sister and my friend Heather love their crockpots, and I'm sure they'll love this recipe. I don't do much with my crockpot (cooking for my job often makes me tired of thinking about cooking for myself), but this sounds so easy and so good. Chocolate and peanut butter should be food groups of their own.

My neighbors just missed out on this candy. I was making a batch for gifts. My old (and up 'til now, trustworthy) burned the peanuts around the edges to a crisp. Sad... any idea what I may have done wrong?

oh no!! I woke up this morning and went to the store and bought all the ingredients, started pouring them all into the crockpot and realized it calls for TWO pounds of the almond bark...I only bought one! uh oh I guess I better get back to the store. Can't wait to try these!

I had to buy a bigger crock pot but it was so worth it. Made a lot with one batch and didn't have to spend all day in the kitchen. And they were super delicious!

I have already eaten my way through six pounds of this stuff. I had a friend pick up some bulk peanuts at Sam's Club and unfortunately she bought dry roasted peanuts. Will I be able to use them or will they burn on the bottom of the crock pot because of the lower oil content?

I have already eaten my way through the first six pounds of this stuff. I had a friend of mine pick up some bulk peanuts for me at Sam's Club so I can make a couple more batches. Unfortunately they picked up 4 1/2 pounds of dry roasted peanuts. Will I be able to use them or will they burn in the bottom of the crock pot since they have less oil than regular peanuts?

Where on earth do I find the white Almond Bark? I tore up the Kroger looking for it but never found it. Maybe someone could describe what it looks like for me or what section of the store to look? Is it a block of chocolate or something in a bag. Sorry, this is my first attempt at making any kind of candy ever!

Delicious! I have made this twice. I knew I wanted to make it for Christmas gifts for neighbors/teachers so I did a trial batch for Thanksgiving. I followed her directions exactly and it came out perfect! I made different sizes trying to decide on a good gifting size. The first batch made 60 pieces (some large, some smaller). Here's my advice: these are delicious but very rich! The larger ones were just too much to eat at one time. The second batch yesterday made 90 pieces. I used a Tablespoon portion and it came out perfect! I also mistakenly bought dry roasted peanuts this time. The chocolate needs the oils from the peanuts to make it creamy. At the 2-hr mark, it was very dry so I just added one Tablespoon of butter and it came out great. Very easy and delicious!

I absolutely love this recipe! When I make it though, I spoon out the candy into mini muffin papers on cookie sheets. It makes about 5 quarts of candy and I can get 150-185 candies by using the mini muffin papers.
