We live, in fact, in a world starved for
solitude, silence, and privacy;
and therefore starved for meditiation
and true friendship.
-C.S. Lewis

Solitude, silence and privacy - today those words sink into my depths like sparkling rain drops into a puddle. How refreshing that would be today- solitude, silence and privacy. I must be burned out.

God, in this dry and weary land, my heart seeks after You. On days I feel numb... on days I'm listless and I'm tired... remind me You're here. Tell me again You never leave. Give me moments, God, to be in that still, simple, quiet place with You. Touch all of these longings that crave meditation... that yearn for true friendship. Reach for us, God, and meet us where we are today. ...

How very true. Sometimes, though...there is too much silence in my life where I can think too much about "stuff" but I am thankful I am able to have moments that are quiet.

Hi Brin, The phrase by C.S. Lewis and your photo's of wooden rolling pins is ironic to me. I grew up in a family or 4 children. If we were outside fighting...to close to Mum's earshot, she would give us a good telling off and chase us off with her.....wooden rolling pin. When we had all scattered, my Mum returned to her lovely 'solitude, silence and privacy. lol. Kind regards, Anita.

Solitude and Silence are healing for me. I spend a good deal of time at home alone, and most of it is spent quietly. Sometimes I'll have music on for an afternoon, or maybe watch a few things on youtube. But rarely do I listen to the radio (when not in the car) and never television. When I go someplace where t.v. is playing, it shocks me how demanding it is, and I never realized it before.

Your prayers touch me. I know that they touch the Father.
