Good morning from the Freeman House dining room, where the sun has finally decided to show herself. It's been gray and cold here since I've come home, and I'm thrilled to see the old girl slip her golden morning magic through the cracks and windows. Where have you been, dear? We've missed you.
The dining room is doubling as an indoor potting shed today. It's too cold to be out but seeds won't usually jump in dirt and sprout themselves. Soil and spades and seeds on the floor and table? Oh my. My Mother would strongly disapprove. If you'd told me that one day I'd have a rambling old house to scatter organic soil in as I pleased, I would have been incredulous. And horrified. But mostly incredulous. I love this old place.
Along that line, some exciting things happened here yesterday. BIG THINGS. Lovely, lovely, happy things. Let's just say that Freeman House is expanding. In square footage and online! Remember the new blog/website I mentioned? I hope you'll love it as much as I do. And can you say Freeman House Cottage? (Excuse me while I do a little dance.) We're making room for guests and gardens. Think homemade cookies and lavender lemonade. Country sky star gazing. Porch-side knitting classes. Line-dried, quilt-covered beds. Herb gardens. A library. Fences threaded with tangles of roses. Old bicycles and creek-side trails.
Yep. You love it. Almost as much as I do. It's thrilling around here, I'm telling you. Even the sun's emerged to check it out....

Congratulations! I have been admiring your blog for somethyme now. Oh, how I envy you, living in an older home w/ all the mishaps. I am a GARDENER at heart also. I have my own quaint, little shop & potting shed to plunder in. Your blog is a breath of fresh air to me & such inspiration, you know we all need that boost from thyme to thyme. Have you opened your new blog/website yet? I would love to visit. Have a Wonderful Wednesday, Pamela from Beehind Thyme

Ok,OK,okay!
I am going to follow my dream!MY DREAM!Two years ago my husband and I built the home we are in now.We lived here one month and my Mom became ill with two kinds of cancer and heart failure.I gave up my store to take care of her.No one can believe she has lived this long, even the doctors don't get it.I became so devoted in keeping her alive I lost me.There is a town in Calif. called lake Arrowhead. My grandparents would spend summers there in the 1930's in an old cabin with freshly washed quilts on the beds and freshly sundried french linen sheets.Lake Arrowhead has old cottages and cabins for sale.I told my husband my dream was to move there and find an old place and name it Harvest Moon Cottage.I can't wait anymore.Days are passing and I need to live my life. I have seen so much illness the past two years its like I need to feel the sun and all the joy it brings. So, in the next month we are putting this place up for sale and we are moving the 3 hrs away to Lake Arrowhead.I need to nourish my soul.I need to feel better.I need to go after my dream. So, because of you and the forfillment you feel, it gave me the push I needed to get my butt going.I mean heck, dreams don't come and get us, we have to follow them!
Thanks Brin!
Geneen from Calif
P.S-my husband says THANK YOU.He says this is the happiest he has seen me in a long while!
If you're opening a BnB, DH and I will be first in line to be guests! I would love to snuggle under an old quilt beside the fire and sip hot cocoa with you...sip lavendar lemonade (this sounds divine!!) and bird watch in the garden! The anticipation of all the exciting things to come is just too much!
This all sounds very intriguing... How long must we wait? ;>
I had to follow your link back to refresh my memory...do you know what I remembered? The sound of sleet hitting the window when you were so ill. You must've described it somewhere because that's what came to me. Weird head I have lately.
Can't wait to see the changes. Thanks for reminding us that Spring is just around the corner. ~Adrienne~
