Sick Day

Sick, I think, so I'm taking a slow day.

Here I sit with the ottoman, covered with my chocolate brown blanket (a gift from the beloved Sall). Chai tea is steaming, tissues are nearby. I'm reading this. I'm flipping through this and making plans to copy the Ralph Lauren room for my new little study/home office. They look odd in this picture, but I adore those dark walls.

Also getting some knitting done. How appropriate that it's the makings of a hot water bottle cover? It's this one, by Sarah Dallas. I can't wait to finish and show you, but it may be a week or two.

(No, it's not your eyes. My camera's playing out on me. Must, must get a new one for Christmas!)

Millie's under the weather, too. A nasty allergy. Poor thing had to get a cortisone shot. I heard chocolate labs are prone to skin rashes and allergies. Is this true? She's at my feet, gnawing on a peanut butter-flavored dog chew. And sighing. Lots of doggy sighing down there.

The tea's cold. Going to risk getting up for a warm refill. The heat doesn't get turned on until Friday and I have to carefully plan trips outside my cozy cover comfort....

  1. I am so sorry to hear you are under the weather. I am on the right side of surgery... all very successful and no more cancer! Thank you for the darling items from Etsy.. can't say more as one or more recipients might figure out what they will find in their stockings...

  2. Feel well. We toured a house with black walls during our house hunting. I wanted to buy the house because of that one room. Never, ever would have imagined it had I not seen it. Lovely! I can't envision those walls in the house we did buy, though. Stay cozy!

  3. To answer your question about Labs, YES they are prone to allergies!
I have owned two faithful, loving, Labs and both eventually suffered from allergies. You may inquire of your VET about giving Benadrill tablets, as we gave our beloved to help the suffering.

  9. We had a black lab that was highly allergic to fleas. One flea bite felt like a thousand (at least that is what the vet said). She would get red blotches on her belly and her ears would smell terrible. Of course once we figured this all out she went on meds and everything was okay.

  10. Sorry to hear you under the weather, chalk it up to stress. :) I've been told you can give dogs benadryl to help with allergies.

  11. Hi Brin, sorry to hear you are not feeling well, maybe you are doing so much better now and the warm tea helped. The hot water bottle knitted cover is very beautiful.

Sorry for your poor darling Millie. Maybe consider buying her Taste of the Wild dog food, it doesn't have any grains in it and that is usually what they are allergic too.
Innova is very good too and I am feeding my puppy Life's Abundance Dog food, but that needs to be ordered online, however their shipping isn't bad at all! All the top breeders are feeding their show dogs the Life's Abundance.

Just thought you might like to know.

  14. Hope you and Millie are feeling better ♥ Re: allergies, our Black Lab Ben would have a bad reaction when bitten by bugs & (like the other comments you've received) we gave him Benadrill for that too.

  16. So sorry you are both feeling lousy! Keep warm and cozy! Love the knitting project. I'm about ready to move onto a new project if I ever figure out how to do a thumb hole that looks right.

I feel for Millie and her allergies...our bulldog (well actually grandpuppy bulldog) has severe allergies and we were just at the specialist today...lots more testing and $$$'s.

  17. Hope you feel better soon. I must say, that will be one snazzy, well-dressed hot water bottle. I wish you were near me so you could teach me to knit like that! I can only make a simple scarf!
