I was fine inside. I had air conditioning inside. And those worn-soft, pink snowman pajamas of yours to curl up on. Why are you so excited? This is lame. I'm doing my best to humor you. chewchewchew
Wait. Found something over here. Hmm? A lizard, you say?
I found a lizard, Mom! I found a lizard I found a lizard I found a lizard.Watch me catch him! Watch me catch them all. Watch me... watch...
... he got away. I didn't know lizards could move that fast.
Better. Let's just lie here on our backs and look up at the sky and think of all the lizards I'll catch some day. You know, when I'm bigger.
Good May Day, Mom.
Good May Day.
Happy May Day Millie! Give your Mom some big, wet kisses today! Sweet dreams :)
ReplyDeleteShe's a keeper...definitely!
ReplyDeleteShe is the sweetest thing, and so tiny! We rescued our Jada when she was three months so she was quite large already.
ReplyDeleteDogs really are a great joy.
Happy May Day!

I just love her sweet face!!! You guys are going to have so much fun!
ReplyDeleteMillie is darling and your blog is quite a good read.
ReplyDeleteI'll be back to see what the two of you have been up to!

How could anyone look into those soulful blue eyes and not fall in love instantly. I can just hear her sighing contentedly when she's near you. Happy May Day Millie and Brin. xxoo
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet puppy!! Our "puppy" is 6 this month - how fast time flies!! Best of luck with Miss Millie!

Oh Millie, you have the sweetest little face. You and Brin will have such great times together. Happy May Day! Next year you will have it all figured out. And you will probably catch the lizard. ~Adrienne~
ReplyDeleteYour new little pup is adorable. Who could not love her, with those eyes.
ReplyDeleteCrate training is best for house breaking, she will learn quickly to not 'go' where she lives, but I do not believe in crating all day. Like when she's older and you leave for work. I know I wouldn't want to be in a little box all day, and neither do my dogs.
Please do not get all stressed out during her puppy phase. Just love her and be her friend.
My word she's gorgeous! What a darling, and who cares what she's chewing when she looks that way. She will be a great companion for you when you're at home. I'm self-employed, too, and I used to be lonely - until my pup arrived!
ReplyDeleteHer blue eyes will change colour, so watch out for them. I thought my girl would go through life with blue eyes, but it's a puppy phase. She's half chocolate lab (and half springer, so a bit fluffier).
Some other things that I learnt during puppy time:
1. Eat breakfast, lunch and dinner before, and in front of, your dog.
2. Calm owners = calm, sleepful dog.
3. Too much dairy = bad, as when they get older, dogs can develop an aversion. However, pups benefit from natural yoghurt, about 1tbsp per day, with their food.
4. Throwing sticks = very, very bad. Avoid throat cuts, use balls!

She's two and a half now!

Too stinkin' cute! I hope her eyes stay that blue.
ReplyDeleteIf she isn't just the sweetest thing ever!!!
ReplyDeleteThose eyes! She's so beautiful.
oh she is absolutely adorable! I am sure you will enjoy her immensely!
ReplyDeleteOne thing we've learned with our dogs is that it's important that they submit to you and you can do submission exercises like making them lay on their backs until they stop wiggling and let you hold them down, or gentling holding their heads and faces until they stop wiggling and let you hold their faces and head...it means they are submitting to you as their leader. It sounds weird, but it really helps with dominant breeds. Our 6 dogs range in ages from 7 to about 9 months old. They really do become your friends. :)
This is possible the sweetest and most delightful post anywhere that I have read in months love her! What a cutie-patootie - and your commentary - PERFECTION! Thanks for giving me such a smile today.
ReplyDeleteColleen (a past "lurker" but no more - I'm trying to be better at commenting because I do so love your blog!)

Brin, I was looking at your photos and they are lovely...you should print them as postcards and sell them on your Etsy. Just an idea.
ReplyDeleteLove your puppy!
Millie is just too, too sweet.
ReplyDeleteI would have advised the crate, as well. We love them for our two dogs. One spends more time in hers because she feels safer there than the other.
Otherwise they have become the place they go when we have to be away for a few hours.
It was wonderful for potty training, though, since a puppy will try very hard not to mess up its bed.
